I Remember

I Remember.

I remember the days of letter writing
Days when it took days, weeks, sometimes forever to get your thoughts across.
I remember the days of Pen Pals
Coloured writing pad

Fancy pens

And rehearsals to write like a keyboard.
I remember the long wait for a reply
Wait for the postman’s beacon

Hoping the letters were from known destinations

Abuloma preferably!
I remember FGGC Abuloma
Federal Government Girls College

I remember Port Harcourt
I remember Onyinye Omiri

My pen pal of life

How her letters made me smile like Kojo

And walk like Mensah.

I remember my heart racing
Faster than Hamilton of Formular 1

And devouring her letters like Dracular.

Sucking every bit of its content.

I remember Ojimba Kingsley Charles
How we met secretly like cabals in Nigeria

To decide who next to be our pen pal.

I remember when life was simple
When you meant words you said

And said words you meant.

Lets toast to my generation
We had fun with the pen and paper

Were devoid of data

Of WiFi and social media

Yet we were content and we lived.

LIDS

Sometimes, it is easy to give a brilliant excuse, than to get the work done.
Time and time again, people have crafted intelligent excuses to avoid reprimand. But how long do we intend to make up excuses rather than taking responsibility for what life throws at us?

I grew up having difficulty in speech. Since I stuttered, I developed a complex, and felt less of who I was. Always in awe how kids conversed like the speed of a typewriter. And wondering if I would ever mutter words without been jeered or mimicked.

Luckly, no man is born perfect or without LIDS.  LIDS serve as a  reminder that no man except the creator is perfect.

LIDS are natural limitations we have no power over. Some, are as a result of circumstances we may have had power over. Circumstances we choose excuse over action.

LIDS are limitations at their very best. They are powerful, make no mistake about that. Capable of preparing you for life or throwing you completely off course.

Famous Nigerian actors Chinedu and Osite Iheme better know as  ‘Aki’ and ‘Paw Paw’ are the greatest examples of natural LIDS.

Ever imagined how many times they had been taunted and told off while growing up? Ever imagined their confidence level as men in kids apparel? Life could truly unfair!

They could have been forgiven if they resigned to fate and threw the biggest joint self pity party, or chose blame rather acceptance. LIDS!

Luckily, they believed. They fought and are regarded highly across the globe. The power of LIDS!

What is your favourite excuse? What has held you down?
Poverty? Background? Location?

Fela Durotoye once said, “your background has no right to put your back on the ground.” Those words have stayed with me till this date.

Here are few classic examples of people who chose Action over excuses.

FEW TIPS

  • Acceptance is the first indication to breaking free from LIDS. Accept who or what you are. Its difficult but, it helps you digest the truth.
  • Have a plan. Don’t sit around waiting for a Messiah, a destiny helper.
  • Act on your plan. There is always a chance of survival.
  • Persevere. Hanging on would break you, test how much you want it, but you are stronger. Believe me.
  • Reap your reward.
  • Stay humble.
  • Lift others.

Moses in the Bible, had every reason to decline the offer to deliver a Israel out of captivity. You carry a generational mandate. You can’t afford to fail. Stop looking for excuses, and start experimenting solutions.

A 25-year old man, Abuchi Stanley has been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for allegedly abducting, drugging and raping a physically challenged 17-year old teenager in Lagos.
As fate would have it, the victim turned out to be the suspect’ aunt’s daughter from Umuezeleke family in Azia town in Ihiala local government in Anambra State.

According to the police source, the victim left her parents’ house in Aguda, Surulere, Lagos and was taken to a hotel in Ikorodu where she was drugged with apple, raped and then abandoned by the suspect despite her condition.

It was while she was wandering in Ikorodu the next day that a Samaritan met her and contacted her mom.
The girl was handed over to her mom at Ketu police station. It was gathered, that Chukwukere met the victim on Facebook and they started love chatting since last year.

However, last week, Chukwukere invited her out and they arranged to meet at Oshodi area of Lagos.

When the victim arrived at Oshodi, she contacted the suspect who reportedly took her to the hotel in Ikorodu.

The matter was reported to the police at Aguda division who trailed the suspect through his Facebook page and got him arrested at Second Gate in Agidingbi area of Ikeja where he sells second hand vehicles and spare parts.
The suspect was charged before Surulere Magistrate and Family court on Tuesday with the alleged offence and he pleaded not guilty.

It all became dramatic in the court room when the suspect’s father recognised the girl’s mom as one of his relatives.
The court, however granted Chukwukere bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties and one of the sureties must own a land property in Lagos.

The case has been adjourned till 7 April 2017.
Hope he rots in Jail!

CARNAGE: Abia Headmistress Demoted For “Embarrassing Ikpeazu’s Wife” over salary arrears.

Reports say the headmistress of a primary school at Amaetiti Asaga Ohafia, in Ohafia Local Government Area, Abia State, Mrs.

Maryleen Ezichi, has been reportedly demoted to a classroom teacher for allegedly embarrassing the wife of Abia State governor, Nkechi Ikpeazu.

It was gathered that Ezichi has been transferred to the Ukwa-East Local Government Area — about 140 kilometers from her former school — to serve as a deterrent for her ‘impunity and lack of respect for constituted authority’.

The headmistress, it was learnt had, during an interactive session with Ikpeazu’s wife after the inauguration of her free meal programme for primary school pupils in her school, complained that ‘teachers were being owed several months of salary arrears and allowances’.
Ezichi was quoted to have told the governor’s wife that teachers had been finding it difficult to meet their financial obligations like the payment of house rents, school fees for their wards, medical bills, transport fares and had pleaded with her to intercede on their behalf.

Furthermore, it was gathered that two days after, the embattled Ezichi was whisked away to Umuahia from the school, where she was handed a letter of deployment and instructed to proceed to the new station immediately.

While defending the headmistress, one of her colleagues, who spoke on condition of anonymity, queried the appropriateness of the government’s action, maintaining that if the government felt embarrassed by her appeal it should do the needful.
He said, “By the way, of what importance is the meal programme to the pupils in particular and the schools in general? What about other schools in the community? All we are saying is that the government should pay us our entitlements period.”

In January, the state’s wing of the Nigeria Union of Teachers had embarked on an indefinite strike over their six-month salary arrears, non payment of leave allowances and non-implementation of their promotions.

Reacting to the development, the Chairman of the state’s NUT, Chizobam Akparanta, stated that he was not aware of the incident, adding that if the teacher complained about it to the union, the NUT would look into it.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the state Ministry of Education, Chris Ogbuehi, denied any knowledge of the matter even as he insisted that he was not in the position to speak on such a sensitive matter without the permission of his boss.
The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Enyinnaya Appolos, said the information made available to

him by the Commissioner for Education, Prof Ikechi Mgbeoji, had it that there was no such incident in the state. He added that the state would investigate the allegation to ascertain what truly happened.

SHOCKER: Terrifying moment villagers cut open a giant python and discover their missing friend inside

GRAPHIC CONTENT:

A local Akbar Salubiro, 25, went missing on Sunday night after setting off to harvest palm oil in a remote village on the island of west Sulawesi, Indonesia.

Concerned friends and relatives found a giant python sprawled out in Akbar’s own back garden the next evening – and feared he had been suffocated and swallowed.

Akbar’s lifeless body was found inside the serpent after horrified locals sliced open its belly using a 18-inch long hunting knife.

Neighbour Satriawan – who knew Akbar – said: ‘He was found in the location of the garden.

‘Initially Akbar set out from his home to go to harvest palm. After not returning to his home, people looked for him.’

Akbar’s wife, Munu, was away at the time and only found out when pictures and video emerged in the news, local media reported.

Village secretary Salubiro Junaidi said: ‘People had heard cries from the palm grove the night before Akbar was found in the snake’s stomach.

‘When the snake was captured, the boots Akbar was wearing were clearly visible in the stomach of the snake.

‘Resident cut open the belly of the snake and Akbar was lifeless.’

May his soul rest in peace. So sad.

My Kids, and My Ultimate Facebook Themed Wedding

Most times when am idle, i imagine how my kids would look or who my wife would be. In my day dream,  I wonder if they be 3 or 7. The traditional African man in me tells me 6 would be perfect.

I mean after all my ‘waka’ with these thing called love, its only normal to be anxious to know how it will end eventually. Having been a sweet boy who witnessed a painful transformaion from an emotional  monk,  to a ruthless player. I still hold the children of this world, responsible for this.
Speaking of my kids,  would they be tall like their mum or take after their dad? I reject the second thought. Lol 😜 I know what you are thinking.  You are thinking I am short!  Sighs. Even if I am,  which I pray I am not in your eyes, is it your height? But seriously friends, they better be cuties. They better be worth the wait! After all, beauty runs in my lineage.

Apologies friends. If I don’t blow Continue reading
